It seemed hard to believe back then, but Kfir Gavrieli went from being a lowly freshman to the cofounder and CEO of the world’s foremost shoe brand, Tieks. Born and raised in Tel Aviv, he showed promise from a young age and had a penchant for business. This is how he was able to get a full ride to Stanford in the fall of 2000. When he got there, he was not sure what he wanted to major in but soon settled on a bachelor’s in economics.

After graduating in 2004, Kfir Gavrieli opted to stay on campus to pursue a master’s in materials science and engineering and later an MBA. After finishing up his degree in the spring of 2008, he went on to become an analyst at Grace Capital. He worked there for six months until deciding to establish Tieks.

Tieks sells a line of ballet flats for woman and has since become a global brand.

They offer different colors such as Matte Black, Pacific Green, Midnight Blue, Tyrian Purple, California Navy, Ballerina Pink, Leopard, and the Rogue. These shoes come in sensational colors like Lilac and Sapphire Patent along with their more sedate Matte Black that goes with everything. These shoes also come in a number of exotic patterns like Black Leopard, Tortoushell Tieks and Heritage Plaid.

Discussing his approach to business, he talks about how important it is to approach each and every day with fresh eyes. This is how they are able to come up with ideas for new ballet shoes. He says he owes much of his success to his parents who immigrated to the US when he was young to help give him a better life than they had. He mentioned one of his influences was Yuval Harari and his book, Sapiens, claiming it helped shape the values he still carries with him to this day.

During the pandemic, his company made thousands of masks to help those who need it and donated them to the first responders.
