Richard Liu Qiangdong is the president and the founder of JD.com, which has become a world leader in e-commerce, with revenues reaching $26.2 billion in 2015, and is China’s second most valuable Internet company after Alibaba Group. Time magazine named Liu Qiangdong is one of the 100 most influential people in 2014, and he was ranked #30 on Forbes’ global list of billionaires.

He received his undergraduate degree from Peking University and later graduated from Stanford Law School. Richard also has a strong interest in social issues, and his non-profit organization, the Yunnan Youth Institute, aims to help youth in the Yunnan province. He has dramatically supported Yunnan’s agriculture and tourism.

Richard Liu believes that as a rich country, China should be able to produce more of what it consumes.

Richard Liu has received many awards for his work supporting the agricultural industry. In 2014, he was named one of China’s top 20 influential figures of the year by China Entrepreneur magazine. He was also listed as one of the first 1,000 influential figures in China by Management World newspaper in 2013. He was nominated for the 2015 Fortune Global Forum Business Person of the Year award. Richard Liu has been named a youth delegate to the 2014 and 2015 National People’s Congress, marking him as one of Hong Kong’s most influential youths. He was awarded the China Tea Industry’s “Prince of Tea” award at the 2015 China Tea Summit and the Frost & Sullivan’s APAC Awards Global eCommerce Pioneer Award in September 2016.

Richard Liu’s success started from being an entrepreneur in China and its support towards the agriculture industry.
