Kelcy Warren is an American businessman. He is the chairman and chief executive officer of Energy Transfer Partners, a Dallas-based Fortune 500 company that owns and operates natural gas pipelines, storage and gathering systems in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the United Kingdom.

Kelcy Warren was born in 1942 in Oklahoma City. At age 12 he knocked on an elevator door while his father was inside with a prospect who turned out to be one of Warren’s future business partners. Mr. Warren let them talk without interruption for two hours as he tuned out on his own thoughts about oil drilling equipment salesmen from Texas – something few people from Oklahoma at that time ever did.

He has served on the Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and Oklahoma City Public School Foundation Board. He is a board member of the U.S.-Mexico Chamber of Commerce, National Petroleum Council, National Gas Policy Committee and serves on Energy Resources Advisory Committee (ERAC), North American Energy Infrastructure Security Council (NAEISC) and the CEMS Working Group. Mr. Warren will be inducted into the Pipeline Industry Hall of Fame in 2016 for his industry innovations, leadership and contributions to safety.

Kelcy Warren is a past recipient of the Chairman’s Award from the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America (INGAA) and was inducted into the Oklahoma Business Hall of Fame in 2010. He is a member of both the American Petroleum Institute and American Gas Association, and serves on several industry boards including the American Gas Association, INGAA, NAEISC, NGIPSA and ERAC.

He acquired the firm Energy Transfer Equity for $44 billion in stock and cash in 2015, creating a company with a market capitalization of $48 billion, as of March 2015. In January 2016, he bought the additional units of Energy Transfer Equity to push his total ownership to 85% and delisted the company from NYSE. Refer to this page for more information.
