Jason Hope Believes Success Often Equals Simplicity
Super serially successful entrepreneur Jason Hope said that he is a “big picture kind of guy.” What he means is that people seeking to get ahead in business, or a new start-up should not get bogged down when things go wrong or take a wrong turn.
Hope said that, from a very early age, he learned not to overthink his mistakes. Rather, he suggests that we learn from them but then move on quickly – always be moving forward. To do that, he said, a person must keep their eye on “the big picture” and the larger, overall goal they have set out for themselves; another success tip offered by Jason Hope is the beauty of simplicity.
Albert Einstein once said that the “best scientific theories are simple – but not too simple.” Indeed, Einstein’s first paper on relativity was just 11 pages long and contained nothing more complex than high school-level algebra. Yet this work changed the world; Jason Hope said that too many young entrepreneurs think they need to build complex systems.
Also, business models that require multifaceted flowcharts to diagram their operations. Simpler is almost always better, he said. Granted, not everything can be as easy as A, B. C., but a successful entrepreneur must be able to explain their business to someone else in 10 minutes or less. If they can’t, Jason Hope adds, they may be making things harder than they should be.
Hope has developed a reputation as a highly prescient futurist. His early predictions about the rise of IoT (Internet of Things) and the enormous importance of blockchain were years ahead of their time. He earned an undergraduate degree in finance and completed an MBA at the W.P. Carey School of Business. Jason Hope´s other interests include life sciences research and giving back to others via philanthropy.
