Gretchen Robinson, Vice President and General Counsel of Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation (RIOC), has been making great strides in the direction of strategic development and evolution of her organization. After a long career as a private attorney in the public sector, she has moved to the forefront of RIOC in search of greater positive change.

Robinson’s firsthand experience with the legal arm of RIOC is indubitable, and she has been an integral part of the larger island community for years. Robinson has been involved in a range of efforts such as the entrance pavilion and green roof at Jack McManus Field, as well as the grant awards from Roosevelt Island Public Purpose Fund to 13 organizations. Additionally, she is well-accomplished in her field, having been honored as an Adjunct Law Professor by Baruch College School of Public Affairs, and as a member of the New York City Bar Association.

What sets Robinson apart from her predecessors is her understanding of the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion at RIOC. If it weren’t for her leadership, many of the initiatives that have led to expansion in business and have helped RIOC to become a profitable entity, wouldn’t have been possible. She also has a passion for the preservation of local historic sites, an initiative well-demonstrated by her support for the restoration of the Octagon Tower on the island.

Robinson’s vision for RIOC’s future has been marked by a focus on fiscal responsibility, accountability, and sustainability. She is also committed to transparency, regularly engaging in an open dialogue with stakeholders to ensure everyone’s needs are taken care of. Her efforts to promote a fairer workplace through improved benefits program have been well-received, as well.
