Gino Pozzo influence on Watford FC
Before his takeover, Watford had been working towards expanding the capacity at Vicarage Road. However, Gino Pozzo arrival meant the club had to change direction again. As well as looking at expanding the capacity of Vicarage Road Stadium, Gino Pozzo influence has seen the club look at the long-term future of the stadium. The club has now announced that it is looking into building a new stadium in the future. This has already had an impact on Watford’s season ticket sales.
Gino Pozzo’s influence has seen them increase season ticket sales by 700% since he took control of the club. Under the new management of Molyneux, Watford FC restructured its entire operations, including its commercial operation. This significantly impacted the club’s financial state, with the club generating more revenue in a given period. As such, Watford was able to sign the best players on the market, which resulted in a sustained run of form.
This run of form eventually brought the club to its highest-ever finish in the Premier League. Molyneux made several other changes at the club, including reiterating the Academy system’s importance. Molyneux was also one of the first managers to look at using technology to improve the club. This saw the club use video analysis to improve the team’s performance. Watford Football Club has gone to great lengths to ensure their Academy players have the best possible development environment to develop.
This has led to the club creating a new full-time Academy system. This has seen the club appoint Academy Director Graham Scott and bring in the head of football operations, Erkan Zoumaloff. These individuals have ensured the Watford Academy is the best in the country. The club has also partnered with German Academy provider Future Sports. The club worked with Future Sports to implement new training and development programs. See related link for additional information.
