Corona’s journey in the fitness industry began during his
college years when he ventured into entrepreneurship. While studying Chemical
Engineering at the Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado (FAAP), he started a
material analysis laboratory and later a clothing store with his own outlets.
However, it was in 1996 that he decided to step away from the family business
and embark on a new venture – the first Bio Ritmo gym in Santo Ama ro.
Driven by a personal need for physiotherapy after a skiing
accident, Corona dedicated himself fully to this business. He invested time and
closely observed the successes and failures along the way. This led to the foundation
of Bio Ritmo, with the goal of innovating and implementing a new management
model in the sports industry.
Initially, the gym struggled to gain traction, but Corona’s
determination remained unshaken. Always eager to learn from others, he embarked
on a benchmarking process, gathering informat ion that would guide him towards
his goals. This led to the opening of a Bio Ritmo branch on Avenida Paulista,
aimed at providing a new kind of fitness experience for busy individuals. The
initiative proved successful, and the gym began to gain recognition, leading to
the opening of more branches.
Not content to rest on his laurels, Corona attended
international industry conferences, exchangi ng experiences with managers from
around the world. This fueled his vision for a new type of fitness company,
which ultimately led to the founding of Smart Fit in 2008. With Corona at the
helm, the Bio Ritmo group transformed into a trailblazer in the Latin American
fitness industry.
