Doug Haynes Talks about His Business and the COVID Pandemic

Doug HaynesWhen the Covid Pandemic hit, it brought a lot of problems. There were job cuts and losses with some businesses going under, never to recover again. The aviation and entertainment industry are some of the sectors which were hit most by the measures taken to contain this pandemic back then. The movement restrictions imposed on people during this time and endless lockdowns affected so many businesses. Doug Haynes is one of the people who were adversely affected by the pandemic when it occurred.

Fortunately for him, he was not been affected as much as the other businesses were. He attributes this little effect to technology which has helped many companies survive the tough COVID times. For his business council advisors, things were not as bad as they were for other businesses. Despite the movement restrictions imposed by different governments across the globe, Doug Haynes says he somehow managed to do business to some extent. He lauds technology which he says enabled him and other people to talk more about businesses and close some deals.

When asked if this is how he would prefer to do things in the future, Mr. Doug Hynes disagrees vehemently. He says that even though technology allows people to work and do things remotely, it comes at the expense of something else: meeting and building relationships. Doug Haynes acknowledges that relationships are crucial in business and vouches for anything that can result in them being built and strengthened. Therefore, he believes that even though working remotely allows for business to be done, its effects on relationship maintenance which should not also be ignored. He further says that doing business remotely can also prolong the process of closing deals.

He observes that working on a deal and closing it physically is much easier than doing so online. This is why he feels that working remotely should only be a desperate move; not a direction business must take going forward.
