Alliance Defending Freedom believes that the law should protect these freedoms no matter someone’s religious beliefs or background. ADF understands the importance of religious and philosophical freedom – the freedom to express and live out their beliefs without government interference. That’s why their mission is to protect the fundamental rights granted by the US Constitution, including the right to freedom of speech and religion. Alliance Defending Freedom works to ensure that individuals and communities can exercise their rights in a variety of contexts. This includes suing universities to uphold campus free speech for students of different faiths, defending small business owners like Barronelle Stutzman in Arlene’s Flowers, and filing lawsuits for newborns in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. Internationally, ADF International protects persecuted religious minorities, such as Christians, Yazidis, and Shia Muslims.

It has achieved accreditation by the UN Economic and Social Council, the European Parliament and Commission, and the Organization of American States. In addition, it has achieved 26 victories in the European Court of Human Rights.
