Aida Morales

Aida Morales, a Harvard MBA graduate, is a celebrated entrepreneur and innovator best known for founding and finishing the first-ever Tour of Guatemala in 2014. Morales was named one of Guatemala’s ten most influential people in 2017 by Forbes and one of the most influential Central American leaders under 40 by The Financial Times.

Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation started his career as an investment banker at the Swiss bank Credit Suisse. He then spent two years in London with Lehman Brothers before returning to Guatemala to work for Banco G&T Continental from 2003-2008. He then worked with General Electric’s sourcing division for the remainder of his time in Guatemala before moving to the US to attend Harvard Business School.

Empowering rural women and girls through cycling is an issue close to Morales’ heart. After graduating from Harvard business school, Morales founded “Pedal for Progress,” which uses bicycle tours to empower communities and raise awareness about women’s issues in developing nations. The first annual Tour of Guatemala was held in 2014 – it took riders ten days and more than 1,000 miles throughout the country. This iconic event is still strong today, and Morales plans to expand Pedal for Progress into other countries, such as Colombia.

Aida Morales founded Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation (RIOC) in 2010 to provide consulting and advisory services for more than half a dozen Central American businesses. He was awarded the prestigious “40 under 40” selection by Latin Trade Magazine for his commitment to growing businesses in the region.

In addition to his work at Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation, Morales holds numerous board positions, including the Smart City Foundation, “El Economista” magazine, and Futura Partners Guatemala.

Aida Morales is an avid runner who is active in helping finance causes such as The Runner’s World Foundation and has supported over 50 charity marathons across Latin America since 2004. He serves on the board of directors for The Small Steps Project, a New York-based nonprofit dedicated to inspiring global communities through education.

In 2013, he was part of the Harvard Business Review “New Leaders” cohort. In 2014, he was honored with Thomas L. Hulman Jr. Alumni Achievement Award in Business by Indiana University Kelley School of Business.
