Steve Hutensky – Co-founder And Chief Operating Officer

Steve Hutensky is the co-founder and CEO of Fanfare, a company that provides products to help musicians. He has also been an entrepreneur for over 17 years. Steve Hutensky has taught entrepreneurship at multiple universities for ten years. He is currently in his second year at the University of Southern California, where he teaches business planning courses.

Steve grew up in Los Angeles, California. He spent most of his early years working on art projects. He attended a high school run by a local college in Los Angeles. Steve Hutensky was allowed to work on an emerging mobile phone application that allowed students in the school to access their information from any computer or mobile device. The project was Steve’s first introduction to entrepreneurship and technology. Steve received a B.A. degree from the University of California in Los Angeles, where he studied economics and business administration. He graduated with honors from UCLA and was also honored for extracurricular activities during his three years at Los Angeles Pierce College.

He started his career at the Novell Corporation, where he worked in the technology department and was a full-time developer. A few months after he began, Steve understood that he could leave the corporation to focus on his business ventures. He quickly left his job and set about creating a new product for a client in healthcare software because of his experience in that area. While working with this company, Steve continued working on new projects in non-tech industries to build up a portfolio of business interests. He made up stories with attractive-sounding names to identify himself with different companies and speak with them more easily.

In 2004, Steve Hutensky founded a company called DirectMusic. This was another venture in which he worked with a team to create new solutions for music fans. Steve was doing this while still working full-time as a developer at Novell, so it was difficult for him to find the time to work on it. He made up stories of other companies he worked with and told people he was just one of the top programmers in the field.
