This article concerns the UK´s current housing market trends. Scotland is trying to make renting homes more affordable. According to Greycoat real estate agency, the Scottish government has proposed banning rent increases for up to five years. Patrick Harvie is the tenant’s right minister and Green MSP. 

He and Paul McLennan were the ones who proposed this bill, as Greycoat agency shares. The bill states that there will be a price cap on tenancies. Rent prices in Scotland have risen more than just about every other country in Europe. There are also other proposals in the bill that will make things easier for tenants. 

For example, tenants will be able to furnish their homes the way that they like. They will also be able to keep a pet. Patrick stated that these rent proposals will benefit both the landlords and the tenants. When the conditions and security improve, Greycoat assures, tenants are happier. David Melhuish is the director of the Scottish Federal Federation. At Greycoat agency, he stated that the legislation is disappointing. He stated that the rent freeze that occurred in 2022 had devastating effects, and this bill will do the same.
