Alliance Defending has been around since 1994, founded as Alliance Defense Fund initially. They are focused on protecting the rights of religious people. Most of the people who have worked with this organization are Christians. However, they have also worked with Jews, Jehovah’s Witnesses and Mormons. They have also defended people who are non-religious.

Preserving the integrity of marriage is one of the things that Alliance Defending Freedom is focused on. They believe that marriage is a lifelong union of a man and woman. They also believe that strong marriages and families are the backbone of a productive society. Additionally, this organization recognizes why it is important for children to be in a home with a healthy marriage.

Marriage has been under attack. The definition of it has been re-designed, and many people mock the idea of a traditional marriage. Alliance Defending Freedom believes that if the integrity of marriage is restored, then society will be better.

Alliance Defending Freedom also protects parental rights. They believe that the government does not have the authority to take away a parent’s rights. Parental rights include things such as the ability to choose how a child is educated and what type of healthcare they receive.

Additionally, this organization believes in the principle of freedom of conscience. This gives people the right to speak according to their beliefs, the freedom to decline medical treatments that violate one’s conscience and the freedom of organizations to operate according to their faith.

Freedom of conscience also applies to the healthcare field. This organization believes that healthcare providers should be able to operate according to the principle of first do no harm. ADF has defended a faith-based organization in Michigan that did not want to prescribe cross-sex hormones. They also defended a faith-based pharmacy that did not want to prescribe abortion drugs.
